Dallas Mavericks draft: Aaron Nesmith interviewed with the team

The Dallas Mavericks have the 18th and 31st overall picks in the 2020 NBA Draft at the moment. Everything appears to be on the table, though. Dallas is engaging in trade talks to improve their roster this offseason, which could include the Mavs trading up into the lottery. Do not rule anything out at this moment.

The Mavericks have been doing their homework on a wide-range of draft prospects. They need a 3-and-D wing and secondary creator. This year’s class may not have a surefire number one pick, but it is packed with capable role players.

Projected lottery pick Aaron Nesmith let fans know that he interviewed with the Dallas Mavericks during his meeting with reporters on Nov. 11. Let us take a closer look at the news.

NBA Draft prospect Aaron Nesmith interviewed with the Dallas Mavericks

Callie Caplan reported that Nesmith interviewed with the Mavs. The 21-year-old had nothing but positive things to say about the meeting. Here are his thoughts on the fit in Dallas.

"“So fitting in over there, they’ve got a phenomenal player in Luka (Doncic). He’s a huge creator for the offense, and I can come in and make space for those guys to make their life easy by pulling the defense out to the wings and just letting them get to the basket and make the right plays.”"

Nesmith would be a fantastic fit for the Mavericks. He was arguably the best shooter in college basketball last season. He connected on 52.2 percent of his 115 3-point attempts, despite playing in only 14 games because of injury. The 21-year-old averaged 23.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game in his second season at Vanderbilt. He has all the makings of a 3-and-D wing in his prime.

Aaron Nesmith is one of many players on the Dallas Mavericks radar in the 2020 NBA Draft. It will be interesting to see what they decide to do with their picks. Fans will not have to wait long because the draft is less than one week away. Stay tuned for all the latest.
