Dallas Mavericks: Dirk Nowitzki spotted in the virtual crowd for NBA Finals Game 1

The Dallas Mavericks did not qualify for the NBA Finals this year, but they will be watching closely. The goal is to be back soon, and Luka Doncic’s superstar breakout this season makes it seem realistic. The 21-year-old averaged 31.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game in his first NBA playoff series. Do count Doncic out as he has won at every stop in his basketball career.

The Mavs have never been to the NBA Finals without Dirk Nowitzki on their roster. The GOAT led his team there in 2006 only to fall to the Heat before bringing them back to win it all in 2011. Nowitzki was unstoppable in the playoffs during his career. He averaged 25.3 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 0.9 blocks per over 145 games.

Dirk was part of Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals. Let us take a closer look at how, plus we must ask an important question.

Dallas Mavericks GOAT Dirk Nowitzki spotted in the virtual crowd at the NBA Finals

Nowitzki was one of many former NBA champions that took part in the virtual crowd for Game 1 on Sept. 30. Fans can see him on the video board here.

It would be interesting to know how the seats were chosen. Nowitzki was in the top row of the board next to Bill Walton. Former President Barack Obama was joined in the front row by Shaq. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Robert Horry were all in the second row. Manu Ginobili was placed in row three, but Dirk found himself all the way at the top. Hopefully, it was not a slight to the Mavericks GOAT. Fans can see the video board for themselves here.

It was awesome to see Dirk Nowitzki in the virtual crowd. Hopefully, he is enjoying his retirement, and fans get to see him back at the American Airlines Center soon enough.
