Dallas Mavericks celebrate Luka Doncic earning first-team All-NBA honors

Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic was named to the first-team All-NBA for the 2019-2020 season. He received 59 votes for the first-team and all 100 put Doncic on one of the three teams. That means every voter viewed Doncic as a top-15 player in the league this season.

That is an incredible leap from the 21-year-old. He won Rookie of the Year in 2019, but nobody saw him becoming a superstar in his second season. Luka started the All-Star game, made the All-NBA first team, and should finish in the top-five in MVP voting. It was an incredible year.

The Mavericks celebrated his accomplishment on Wednesday. He became only the second player in franchise history to earn first-team All-NBA honors. Only three Mavs have ever made any of the three All-NBA teams. Here is a look at some of the many congratulations Luka received after the honors were announced.

The Mavs put together a short highlight package for fans to enjoy that congratulated Doncic. See it below.

Luka’s sponsor Jordan brand tweeted a shout out to Luka including asking him “what’s next?”.

Nearly every one of his current teammates sent congratulations on Instagram. He got multiple from former Real Madrid teammates too. Fans can see his story here.

Mavericks fans should be excited about the future. The 21-year-old would have been the youngest player in NBA history to earn first-team All-NBA honors if the season would have ended as scheduled. Instead, he goes down as the third youngest. LeBron James is the man leading that list, and Doncic is on the path to becoming the best player in the league.

It will be interesting to see what Luka Doncic adds to his game this offseason. Expect him to come back better than ever as the Dallas Mavericks attempt to jump into title contention in 2021. Do not miss it.
