Dallas Mavericks: Looking back at the night they dominated the Lakers

The Dallas Mavericks proved they can compete with any team this season. Luka Doncic kept Dallas in every contest and his supporting cast helped them win 43 of 75. That was enough to put the Mavs back in the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

It was a year of growth for Dallas. That left plenty to celebrate despite the first-round postseason exit at the hands of the LA Clippers.

The Mavericks are looking back at the best moments of the 2019-2020 season. Checking in at number four is their trip to Los Angeles that ended in a blowout win. Let us take a look back at that amazing night.

Here is the thread the Mavs tweeted to celebrate the occasion.

Dirk Nowitzki and Kobe Bryant were both in attendance in LA. The game happened on Dec. 1 just over a month before Kobe died in a tragic helicopter accident.

On the court, Luka Doncic led the way. He narrowly missed a triple-double by finishing with 27 points, nine rebounds, ten assists, and three steals. Fans can look back at all of his best plays from that night here.

The Mavericks used a balanced attack to top the Lakers. Delon Wright chipped in 17 points. Kristaps Porzingis, Dwight Powell, and Justin Jackson each had 15. That balance was the difference. LeBron James and Anthony Davis each scored 25-plus, but LA only had one other player in double-figures.

The win further proves that Dallas can compete with any team. The Mavericks won three of seven combined games against the two teams in the Western Conference Finals this season. They are only going to get better too, so every NBA team better watch out for the Mavs.
