Dallas Mavericks: Throwback to Boban Marjanovic dominating Denver

Dallas Mavericks: Looking back at Boban Marjanovic dominating the Nuggets

The Dallas Mavericks were an exciting team this season. Luka Doncic nearly averaged 30 points per game. Kristaps Porzingis topped 30 ten times. Seth Curry and Tim Hardaway Jr. both had games were they went off. The only other player on the Mavericks to drop more than 30 in a game this season was Boban Marjanovic.

That should not be a massive surprise. The 7’4 big man produces some incredible per-36 minute numbers. Marjanovic averaged 24.7 points and 16.8 rebounds using that metric this season. Only Andre Drummond had a better rebound percentage than Bobi among players that played more than ten games.

Marjanovic absolutely went off against the Denver Nuggets on March 11. That was the night the NBA announced it was suspending play. The Mavs were in the middle of the game when word came out. It was an unforgettable night. Let us take a look back.

Boban Marjanovic has an incredible performance as Dallas Mavericks top Nuggets

The Mavs continue to celebrate their top moments of the 2019-2020 season. Checking in at number five was Boban dropping 31 points and 17 rebound against Denver. Fans can see the team’s Twitter thread here.

To make matters more impressive, Marjanovic had 16 points and eight rebounds in the fourth quarter alone. He absolutely dominated Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets big man. The Mavs trailed by one entering the final quarter and went on to win by 16 points. It was an amazing performance from Marjanovic. See his full highlight reel from the game below.

That opened the door for Bobi to play a larger role in the restart. He was a DNP-CD one time out of 14 games in Orlando. Marjanovic played in 37 of 67 before the hiatus. He put on a show from Walt Disney World including making a massive impact in the playoffs.

The Mavericks are excited to have him back next season. Boban is a fantastic teammate and a special talent. Expect a lot more from him in 2021.
