Dallas Mavericks guard Seth Curry out vs. Trail Blazers with a leg injury

The Dallas Mavericks have won two straight games to keep their hopes of moving out of seventh place in the Western Conference alive. Monday’s victory came in improbable fashion. The Mavs were without Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, and Dorian Finney-Smith. Then, they fell behind by 22 points to the Jazz in the second half only to storm back for the win.

The Mavericks are back in action on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers. It is the second of a back-to-back set for Dallas. Fans received a bit of bad news before tipoff on Tuesday afternoon.

Seth Curry was ruled out on the NBA’s official injury report. Let us take a look at the latest.

Seth Curry out with leg injury as Dallas Mavericks take on the Portland Trail Blazers

Curry has been dealing with a leg injury in the bubble. He played in the team’s first two seeding games, but missed the next two with “soreness”. The 29-year-old returned against the Bucks, but only played 21 minutes. He looked well dropping 22 points against the Jazz on Monday before being ruled out against the Blazers.

Coach Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks are likely just being cautious. There is no need to push Curry with a playoff spot secured. The Mavs know they need him healthy in the postseason to make a run. Curry’s floor spacing is a key component of the Mavericks league-leading offense.

The Dallas Mavericks are back in action on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns in their final seeding game. Hopefully, Curry returns to the lineup. It is a situation to monitor moving forward. A healthy Seth Curry with his shot dialed in could certainly swing a playoff series from Walt Disney World.
