Dallas Mavericks guard Seth Curry out vs. Kings with right leg soreness

The Dallas Mavericks took on the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. It was both team’s third seeding game inside the Orlando bubble. Neither organization had a win yet. The Mavs two losses were heart-breaking as they blew large leads in both games. It also crushed Dallas’ chances of moving out of seventh in the Western Conference.

The news went from bad to worse as Seth Curry was ruled out before the game with what the team is calling right leg soreness. Losing a starter is always difficult. Curry is one of the best shooters in the NBA. His absence makes the game harder for the rest of the Mavericks.

Let us take a look at the latest on Curry and how the Mavericks will fill his role against the Sacramento Kings on Aug. 4.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle ruled out Curry before the game. See his quote from his pregame media session below.

"“Seth Curry is going to be inactive. He has some soreness in his leg, so we held him out of practice yesterday and we are going to hold him out today. He will be ready to go on Thursday.”"

Curry being put on the inactive list makes Michael Kidd-Gilchrist active for the first time inside the bubble. J.J. Barea took over Curry’s place in the starting five. It will be the veteran’s first game action from inside the bubble. Trey Burke and Delon Wright figure to see plenty of minutes in the backcourt with the 29-year-old Curry out against the Kings.

It was positive to hear that Curry should be ready to face the LA Clippers on Thursday. That will likely be a playoff preview. Expect the Mavs to have a bit of extra energy for that contest.

The Dallas Mavericks will certainly have to adjust with Curry out. Stay tuned to The Smoking Cuban for all the latest on Seth Curry’s injury plus analysis on the Mavericks every day.
