Dallas Mavericks: Latest updates on Trey Burke and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

The Dallas Mavericks had two players that were late arriving to the bubble in Orlando. Trey Burke was slowed because he signed as a replacement player after Willie Cauley-Stein opted out. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist did not travel with the team because he was attending to a family matter.

Both players are in Orlando and have passed quarantine. Neither has played in the Mavs first two scrimmages, though. Both players are working their way into shape after late starts.

Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle gave fans an update on the status of both men heading into the team’s final scrimmage against the Philadelphia 76ers on July 28. Let us take a closer look.

Carlisle started his question and answer session with media on Monday by saying that both Burke and MKG practiced. He was later asked a follow up about the two players. See Carlisle’s quote below.

"“Burke is going to play (against the Sixers) unless he has some kind of issue coming off of today’s practice. MKG will not play tomorrow. He’s further away from game action.”"

Carlisle went on to say Burke is in “really good shape”. Fans are excited to see him back on the floor. Burke finished last season with the Mavericks. He played 25 games with the Sixers earlier this year before being waived in February. Expect the 27-year-old guard to be looking for a bit of revenge in Tuesday’s scrimmage.

It sounds as if Kidd-Gilchrist will miss at least the first seeding game as well. Remember, the opener is on Friday against the Houston Rockets.

Be sure to tune in on July 28 to see what Trey Burke can do in his first game with the Dallas Mavericks. The Smoking Cuban will continue to provide fans with updates on Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s status plus everything they need to know about their favorite team from the season’s restart, so stay tuned.
