Basketball-Reference gives Dallas Mavericks third-best odds to win the Western Conference
The Mavericks currently sit seventh in the Western Conference, but the stats suggest they should have a better record. They moved up in 48.8 percent of the simulations. The Mavs made it as high as the third seed heading into the playoffs. They ranged from winning all eight seeding games to grabbing just one victory in the simulations.
The most interesting number was Basketball-Reference gave the Mavericks a 14.5 percent chance to win the Western Conference. Those are the third-highest odds behind the Lakers and Clippers. The Mavs won the title in 4.5 percent of the simulations. Those are high odds for a team few are predicting as a legit title contender in Orlando.
