Dallas Mavericks: A look at the best moments from the team’s practices inside the bubble
The Dallas Mavericks are just beginning a unique and unexpected journey. Nobody anticipated the novel coronavirus forcing the NBA to suspend play in March. The Mavs were planning on packing the American Airlines Center in the playoffs. Instead, they will have to play in Orlando without fans in attendance. 2020 has been the year of the unexpected.
The Mavericks are embracing the unique circumstances. 22 teams are in the bubble in Orlando for the season’s restart. The Mavs are enjoying their time on and off the court. No family or friends are allowed inside the bubble, so the team has been hanging out together. They pass the time fishing or playing games. It has been a fantastic bonding experience.
Practices within the bubble have been unique too. The media sessions have been virtual, and fans are only getting brief glimpses. The NBA decided to change that on July 18.

The NBA released a video showing off plenty of the top moments from the Mavs practices inside the bubble. The only thing missing is the Luka Doncic trick shots. See the video below.
There were a few takeaways from the video. First, it is fantastic to see Dwight Powell getting up shots. He will not play in the restart after tearing his Achilles and having surgery in January. Powell looks to be progressing well in his rehab, though. Kristaps Porzingis drilling a half-court shot was impressive. Finally, no player has more fun on the basketball court than Luka Doncic. He is always smiling, shooting, and joking around with his teammates.
The Dallas Mavericks will be ready to hit the ground running when the seeding games begin on July 31. Expect them to play spoiler in the playoffs too. It is going to be an exciting ride that fans will not want to miss, so stay tuned.
