Dallas Mavericks are the most underrated team in Orlando
By Tyler Watts
Why Dallas Mavericks are underrated: 3. Offense
Luka Doncic is leading the best offense in the NBA. The competition is not close either. Dallas has an offensive rating of 115.8. The Rockets are second at 113.4. The next four teams are the Clippers, Lakers, Celtics, and Bucks. Everyone else in the top six is considered a title contender, but Dallas gets left out.
Yes, the Mavericks play at a slow pace and have the worst net rating of the group, but do not undersell an elite offense. The last team to lead the league in offensive rating and not make it to the second round of the playoffs was the 2011 Denver Nuggets. Since 2000, the top offense has not beyond the opening round just three times.
The Mavericks offense will be even more dangerous after training camp 2.0. They had a lot of new pieces to integrate early on. Kristaps Porzingis missed 20 months of game action recovery from a torn ACL. Seth Curry, Delon Wright, and Boban Marjanovic were just added to the roster. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee had to be still settling in after the Jan. 2019 trade. All those players have at least 67 games in Dallas under their belt now.
Luka Doncic will be leading the way in Orlando. Expect the 21-year-old to continue impressing and producing historic numbers. The best is still yet to come for Luka and the Mavericks.
