Dallas Mavericks: Should they trade for Otto Porter this offseason

The Dallas Mavericks improved mightily this season. Luka Doncic turning into an MVP candidate keyed the team’s transformation from the lottery to the playoffs. The Mavs have exceeded all expectations this season.

It was not just Luka either. Kristaps Porzingis returned from his ACL injury and proved he can still be an All-Star. Seth Curry and Tim Hardaway Jr. had career-best shooting numbers spacing the floor for the Mavericks. Plenty of other role players followed suit as Dallas vaulted up the standings.

The Mavs are now preparing for the season’s restart. They plan on making a deep playoff run, but this is only the beginning. The front office will be searching for ways to improve their roster this offseason. The sky is the limit with Luka and Porzingis in Dallas.

Otto Porter mentioned as Dallas Mavericks trade target this offseason

Clutch Points outlined Otto Porter as a player the Mavs should look to acquire after NBA Disney. The forward has a $28.5 million player option for next season. He would have to opt in to be traded to Dallas. Porter is expected to do just that. The 27-year-old would be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.

The Bulls forward played in only 14 games this season. He returned in March just before the suspension. Porter has struggled to stay healthy over the last two years. He played just 56 games in the 2018-2019 season as well.

Should the Dallas Mavericks make a trade for Otto Porter? Will they do that this offseason? Let us try to answer both questions for Mavs supporters.
