Dallas Mavericks trade for Rudy Gobert in a hypothetical deal: Should they do it?
The Dallas Mavericks have taken a massive leap this season. Luka Doncic has gone from Rookie of the Year to MVP candidate as the Mavs jumped from 33 wins in 82 games to 40 in 67. Kristaps Porzingis slowly worked his way back into form. The Mavericks have a strong cast of role players around their two stars too.
Few saw it coming, but they are now just a few pieces away from becoming a legit title contender. Having two stars under 25 means Dallas could stay long-term.
The question is what are those pieces, and how do the Mavs uncover them. Bleacher Report decided to take on that task. The goal was adding another star and making each of their top ten players be on a title-contending team. Please, read the full article here.
Dallas Mavericks acquire Rudy Gobert: Should they do it if given the chance?
For the Mavericks, Bleacher Report chose a draft-night trade to acquire Rudy Gobert. It cost them Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, Jalen Brunson, two first round picks (2020 and 2025), and a 2020 second rounder which will be 31st overall. That is a hefty price to pay for the All-Star big man.
They do not necessarily need a third star to become title contenders. It is one path, though. Bleacher Report lays out a real deal here. That package would likely get Gobert to Dallas, especially if the tension between the two Jazz stars amplifies.
Let us answer two important questions for the Dallas Mavericks, though. The should and will they of this hypothetical deal.
