Dallas Mavericks guard Delon Wright takes the couple’s challenge
The Dallas Mavericks traded for Delon Wright in July 2019. They were searching for pieces to fit around Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. Wright brings perimeter defense and a versatile offensive game. Some expected the 28-year-old to start after having a stellar finish to the 2018-2019 season with the Memphis Grizzlies.
That has not been the case. Wright has improved as the season progressed, though. Over the last 20 games before the suspension, he averaged 7.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.1 steals in 23.9 minutes per game. Wright shot 44.2 percent from the field and 42.5 percent on his 3-point attempts during that stretch.
It will be interesting to see if the shooting continues. Wright is a career 34.5 percent shooter from 3-point range. His improved jumper plus the season-ending injury to Jalen Brunson could open up more minutes for the 28-year-old during the season’s restart in Orlando.
As the team prepares to head to Disney World, they have continued their social media excellence. Let us take a look at a post from Saturday afternoon.

Hopefully, it provided you with a hearty laugh. It was certainly a clever idea from the Mavericks guard.
It will be interesting to see how the Mavs incorporate Trey Burke into the fold. Dallas has minutes available at the backup point guard. It also appears coach Rick Carlisle wants to go small in Orlando. The Mavericks could play Wright, J.J. Barea, and Trey Burke together for stretches. Expect Carlisle to add a few new wrinkles during NBA Disney. Fans can read more about the Burke signing here.
