Dallas Mavericks rumored to be targeting Trey Burke for NBA Disney
The Dallas Mavericks will head to Orlando next month for the conclusion on the 2019-2020 season. 22 teams are making the journey. Each organization will play eight seeding games before the playoffs begin. Dallas is a lock to make the postseason, but there is work to be done.
The Mavericks announced Courtney Lee will miss the rest of the season with a calf injury. That puts Dallas down three players for the restart. Dwight Powell and Jalen Brunson were already out for the year. Unless they make a move, the Mavericks will only take 14 healthy players to Orlando. That does not seem wise given the uncertain nature of the restart.
The Mavs are exploring the free agent market as you read this. See the latest Mavericks rumor here.
Dallas Mavericks have eyes on adding Trey Burke for NBA Orlando
Tim MacMahon put out the word that the Mavs “have interest” in Trey Burke on Thursday afternoon. See his tweet below.
Source: Mavs have interest in signing PG Trey Burke before NBA’s restart. Burke, who was waived by the 76ers in February, averaged 9.7 points and 2.6 assists in 25 games for Dallas last season. Mavs need PG depth with Jalen Brunson out due to shoulder surgery.

The Mavericks would have to waive someone on their 15-man roster to open up a spot for Burke. Courtney Lee is the likely casualty as he is on an expiring contract and is not healthy enough to play in Orlando.
Fans will remember that Burke played 25 games for Dallas last season. He came over from the Knicks in the Kristaps Porzingis trade. Burke averaged 9.7 points and 2.6 assists in 17.4 minutes per game for the Mavericks. He was a free agent after last season.
Earlier this year, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers. Burke averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 assists in 13.2 minutes per game.
The 27-year-old would give them another steady backup point guard option to rely on in Orlando. Keep an eye on the Dallas Mavericks making a move for Burke or someone else in the days ahead. The transaction window ends on July 1, so they will have to decide before then. Stay tuned.
