Will the Dallas Mavericks sign DeMarcus Cousins for NBA Disney?

The Dallas Mavericks will be taking part in the NBA’s restart in Orlando next month. 22 teams will head to Disney for the conclusion. Each organization plays eight seeding games before the playoffs begin. Here is more on the plan and why it is perfect for the Mavs.

Given the unique nature of the proceedings, the NBA is allowing teams one week to make transactions starting on June 23. All 30 can make moves. Teams have to observe the roster rules and only certain players are eligible to be signed.

The Mavericks have a full 17-man roster meaning they would have to waive a player to sign someone else. It is something they will consider in the days ahead. The Mavs want to make a deep playoff run in Orlando. Adding an upgrade could be the difference.

The top name on the market is DeMarcus Cousins. The four-time All-Star has not played at all this season because of a torn ACL. He is expected to be fully healthy and ready to go, though. John Hollinger of The Athletic noted the Mavericks were one of three teams he saw Cousins as a “fit” on. (subscription required).

The 29-year-old should have plenty of suitors. Any team looking for a big man could sign Cousins. He was on the Lakers earlier this season. They may be hoping for a reunion. Los Angeles will be far from the only team calling about Boogie.
