Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Jamahl Mosley will interview for Knicks head coaching position

The Dallas Mavericks hired Jamahl Mosley to be one of Rick Carlisle’s assistant coaches in 2014. Mosley had eight years under his belt split between the Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers. The 40-year-old has transformed himself into a legit head coaching candidate during his six seasons with the Mavericks. Mosley interviewed for the Cavaliers position last offseason.

Mavs fans should not expect that to stop. Mosley is a fantastic coach that has helped a lot of the players develop over the years.

He was also a standout player at the University of Colorado. Mosley scored 1,171 points in his four seasons. He also led them to two appearances in the NIT tournament.

Tim MacMahon quickly followed up by noting Mosley’s work as the Mavericks defensive coordinator and his hand in helping Luka Doncic blossom. It is all true. The Mavericks would miss Mosley if he left for New York.

There is no guarantee Mosley will get the job. The Knicks have nine candidates they are expected to interview at this moment according to Hoops Rumors. Tom Thibodeau is leading the group. The veteran coach led the Bulls and Timberwolves in recent seasons. Kenny Atkinson and Mike Woodson are also candidates with head coaching experience.

Other positions figure to become available at the conclusion of the season. Expect Mosley to be in the running for all of them. He still may be a few seasons away from landing a job, but his time will come. Expect Mosley to thrive once he receives the opportunity.
