Luka Doncic leads Dallas Mavericks to win over Pelicans

Dallas Mavericks fans saw a different Luka Doncic from the opening night of his second season. He was fantastic as a rookie, but clearly jumped levels. Luka had 34 points in a win over the Wizards in the first game.

He followed that performance with a triple-double against the Pelicans. The Mavericks won in New Orleans thanks to Doncic’s outstanding night. He finished with 25 points, ten rebounds, ten assists, and two steals in 37.7 minutes. The 20-year-old let it be known that he was going to be in the MVP conservation.

The Mavericks celebrated that game and Luka’s performance with a special video on Thursday. Fans have to see it.

Nobody could stop Doncic. It was only the beginning too. He ended the month of November averaging 30.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 9.6 assists per over his first 18 games. It was an absolutely incredible start. Luka did not turn 21 until February.

The triple-doubles did not stop either. Doncic led the NBA with 14 this season. Only LeBron James and Nikola Jokic had more than ten. Just 15 players have had multiple triple-doubles this season. It is still difficult to pull off despite how easy Doncic makes it seem.

Luka also became the Mavericks career triple-doubles leader with 22. He passed Jason Kidd who produced 21 in Dallas. The Mavs have never had a player like Doncic. The rest of their top five is Michael Finley with six and four players tied with two apiece.

Dallas Mavericks supporters are ecstatic to see what Luka can do in the postseason. The 21-year-old led his team there for the first time since 2016. Can he continue to dominate games in the playoffs? Stay tuned later this summer to find out.

Remember, Doncic won nearly everything in Europe before coming to the NBA. Do not count him out.

Stars will want to come to Dallas to play with Luka. Next
