Watch Dallas Mavericks in game one of ’06 Western Conference Finals
The Dallas Mavericks became an NBA franchise in 1980. They made their first trip to the Western Conference Finals in 1988. Shortly after that, the Mavericks struggled for a decade. Then, Dirk Nowitzki helped lead the franchise to another level.
It was a process for Dirk, though. The Mavs missed the playoffs in his first two seasons. It was not until 2006 where he reached the NBA Finals. The Mavericks did not win their first championship until 2011. Nowitzki became an all-time great with that title.
Dirk was in his second Western Conference Finals in 2006. They played Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns. The former teammates were both in contention for MVP that year. Nash took it home with Nowitzki finishing third. It was going to be a fantastic series.

Fans can watch game one of that series any time after the NBA aired it on YouTube.
It is a wild high scoring affair. The two teams go back and forth. Dallas grabs a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter, but cannot hold it. Nash is next level finishing with 27 points and 16 assists to lead his Suns to victory.
Dirk Nowitzki has an incredible game too. The Mavericks GOAT produces 25 points and 19 rebounds. Devin Harris is the Mavs leading scorer with 30 points plus five steals.
Dallas loses this game but wins the series in six games to make their first NBA Finals appearance. Supporters know that they play the referees as much as the Heat in the next round. The Mavericks squander a two games to zero lead in a series fraught with controversy. Luckily, they get revenge against the Heat in the Finals in 2011.
Dallas Mavericks supporters are getting a decent list of games they can watch on-demand. Two of Dirk’s best games from the 2011 playoffs are available too. Read more about that here. Fans should check all three games out or watch them again as we all prepare for basketball to return.
