Dallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell made a virtual visit to the Children’s Medical Center Dallas during the pandemic. Find out more here.

The Dallas Mavericks have not stopped working in the face of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The NBA suspended the season, so the Mavs decided to be at the forefront of the fight. They are donating time, money, and food to help out. The effort is led by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, but all the players are chipping in.

No current player may give back more than Dwight Powell. The Mavs big man is always doing charity work and finding ways to improve the community. He has not stopped during the pandemic either.

Powell was spotted reading to a young fan in March. He joined with Cuban and Luka Doncic to donate money to frontline workers in Dallas.

He even made a virtual visit to Children’s Medical Center Dallas where he brightened the day of multiple people. See him in action below.

Dwight Powell may not be starring on the court right now, but he continues to make an impact. It is awesome to see him give back. Mavericks fans should be delighted he is part of their team.

Powell is recovering from a ruptured Achilles and subsequent surgery too. He has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Powell hoped to be ready for the opening night of the 2020-2021 season. He will have a bit of extra time to recover to make that goal now.

It will be interesting to see what impact that injury has on his game. Powell turns 29 in July. Achilles injuries used to be career ending. That is not the case now, though. Some guys come back and perform at their previous level after the injury. Some never quite get back. Hopefully, Powell still has his bounce and his game returns.
