The Dallas Mavericks took out the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2011 NBA playoffs. Find out how to watch games five and six here.
The Dallas Mavericks embarked on a historic playoff run to a championship in 2011. Fans will never forget that season. Dirk Nowitzki finally triumphed and brought Dallas a title. It elevated him to legend status.
With the NBA season and live sports suspended because of the novel coronavirus, Fox Sports Southwest decided to air all 16 victories from Mavs 2011 playoff run. It began on Wednesday with the first two victories against the Portland Trail Blazers.
That first round series wraps up on Saturday night. The Mavericks had lost two straight games in Portland. It was a real series as play shifted back to Dallas for game five. That contest airs at 7 p.m. CT on April 25. Immediately following will be the series-clinching game six at 9 p.m.
Why watch?
Saturday’s action kicks off with a defensive slugfest. The Mavericks are held to just 15 points in the first quarter, but they do not let that slow them down. Dirk Nowitzki scores 25 points to be the game’s leading scorer. Tyson Chandler has a monster 20 and 14 double-double to help the Mavs take control of the series.
Game six may be one of Dirk’s best games of the 2011 season. He drops 33 points including 14 in the fourth to close out the series in Portland. Nowitzki hits 11 of his 17 field goal attempts and does not miss in 11 tries from the foul line. He adds in 11 rebounds, four assists, and one block for good measure.
It is the 2011 playoffs. Do Mavericks supporters need any more reason than that to watch?
Fans wanting a little more Mavs can tune in at 5 p.m. CT as Fox Sports Southwest re-airs footage from their 2011 championship parade. It should be an exciting night for Mavericks basketball. Please tune in and enjoy it.
