Mavericks guard Seth Curry led his team to victory in Justin Jackson’s Call of Duty COVID-19 Relief Tournament. Find out more about the event here.

The Dallas Mavericks may not be balling out on the court right now, but they are still banding together. The season has been suspended because of the novel coronavirus for over six weeks. It has changed the team’s focus from basketball to giving back.

The players are donating food, time, and money to fighting this pandemic. The efforts are led by Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. The rest of the organization has followed suit.

Justin Jackson set up the “Battle of the Blues” Call of Duty Tournament to raise money for the fight against COVID-19. The event took place on April 24. It featured four teams. Let us take a look at what went down.

Jackson captained his squad. He was joined by fellow Tar Heels Marcus Paige, Brice Johnson, and Brandon Robinson along with Dallas Empire gamer Clayster.

The other captains were Jalen Brunson, De’Aaron Fox, and Seth Curry. Curry had fellow NBA and former Duke players Grayson Allen and Cam Reddish on his team.

Ultimately, Team Curry defeated Team Jackson in the finals. Grayson Allen was the tournament MVP. The event also raised $6,755 to help fight the coronavirus.

It was a fun tournament that featured plenty of smack talk. Fans can watch a replay of the event here. Warning: There is some language that may not be suitable for all viewers in the stream.

Hopefully, Mavericks basketball returns in short order. Fans would enjoy nothing more than packing the American Airlines Center and watching the Mavs in the playoffs. Time will tell if that can become a reality in 2020. Basketball will return, and the Mavericks will be ready. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.
