Dallas Mavericks guard Jalen Brunson shared his go-to playlist with fans on April 18. Fans can check it out here and more.
The Dallas Mavericks drafted Jalen Brunson in 2018. It was the same night that they traded up for Luka Doncic. Brunson moved into that backup point guard role long held by J.J. Barea this season. Playing behind Luka caused his minutes to dip, though.
Brunson can absolutely ball. Look at his numbers as a starter. He averages 12.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 26.3 minutes per game over his 16 starts this season. Brunson produced 15.0 points and 7.3 assists a night in the eight times he played over 30 minutes.
The 23-year-old has his season end on the first play of his final start. Brunson drove to the basket and was fouled hard by Dewayne Dedmon. He lasted only 12 seconds. Brunson had shoulder surgery days after the season was suspended. The Mavs were quick to rule him for the rest of the campaign even if they resume playing this summer.
Expect Brunson to attack his rehab in hopes of being ready for the opening night of the 2020-2021 season. Time will tell if he can make that happen.

Brunson selected four relatively new songs and a Jay-Z throwback. Here is the playlist featuring all of the Mavericks go-to songs.
It will be interesting to see how the Mavs decided to fill Brunson’s role if the season resumes. Will they turn it back to J.J. Barea? Does Delon Wright take his minutes over? Will coach Carlisle give Seth Curry more playmaking responsibilities? It is one of the significant questions for the Mavericks going forward. My guess is the role gets split between Barea and Wright depending on the matchup.
Please, stay safe and be smart during the quarantine. Hopefully, normal life and basketball return in short order. Well wishes.
