Dallas Mavericks guard Seth Curry missed the March 8 game against the Indiana Pacers with an ankle injury. Find out more here.
The Dallas Mavericks were without an important piece of their rotation when they hosted the Indiana Pacers on Sunday. Seth Curry was out after spraining his ankle in the second quarter against the Grizzlies on Friday night. He had 15 points on nine field goal attempts before the injury.
It is a significant loss for the Mavs. Few players have been hotter than Curry in 2020. Since the calendar flipped over, he is averaging 15.8 points and 2.9 3-pointers made per game on 55.0 percent shooting from the field and 50.9 percent on his threes. It has been a blistering stretch for one of the NBA’s best shooters.
The Mavericks ruled him out in advance of Sunday’s game, but the injury does not appear to be serious. Curry could miss a few more, but expect him back in relatively short order. Expect to hear more updates on his ankle as they become available.
Who steps up?
The Mavs were without Curry, Jalen Brunson, and Dorian Finney-Smith against the Pacers. That meant more playing time for Delon Wright, Maxi Kleber, Courtney Lee, and J.J. Barea.
Lee and Wright will be the direct replacements for Curry. Both men lack his shooting stroke but can hold their own on the defensive end. The Mavericks will rely more on Tim Hardaway Jr. to provide Curry’s floor spacing.
Injuries and illness are testing the depth of the Dallas Mavericks. They certainly need to get healthy down the stretch, so they can make a run in the playoffs.
The Smoking Cuban will have all the injury updates plus analysis on the Mavs all year, so returning regularly is a must for supporters.
