Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis won Western Conference Player of Week on March 2. Here is a look at his top plays from those four games.
The Dallas Mavericks are finally seeing the Kristaps Porzingis every team in the NBA fears. The one that can attack both inside and out while being a defensive monster. Health plays a massive factor here. KP is finally back at full strength after missing more than a full season of game action.
The numbers are impressive. Since Jan. 31, Porzingis is averaging 27.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 2.0 blocks per over 11 games. He is shooting 50.0 percent from the field and 39.6 percent on his 3-pointers. The Unicorn is back and wreaking havoc on the league.
Kristaps Porzingis was named Western Conference Player of the Week on March 2. In the four games, KP had three-doubles including a 38-point night against the Timberwolves. The Mavericks won three of the four as well. Here is a look at Porzingis’ best plays of the week.
No team wants to match up with the Dallas Mavericks if they are healthy in the playoffs. KP returning to his All-Star form makes the Mavs that much more dangerous. The fact that Coach Rick Carlisle is using Porzingis at the five has helped too. Now, he is the primary pick and roll partner with Luka Doncic. That creates more space for the Mavericks and gives them more options to score.
Fans should be excited about their return to the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The games will tighten up, though. The Mavs have struggled in clutch situations this season. It will be interesting to see how the young group fairs in the playoffs. Luka has experience winning the EuroLeague, so not count the Mavericks out.
Hopefully, Porzingis continues his stellar play into the postseason as well. Having that one-two punch will cause problems for even the NBA’s top teams. Stay tuned.
