Dallas Mavericks center Willie Cauley-Stein was ruled out for the team’s next three games as he deals with a personal issue. Get the latest here.

The Dallas Mavericks face the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday evening. It is their fourth game since the All-Star break. The Mavs have won two of the first three including both games where Luka Doncic played.

They have been without one of their newest additions, though. Willie Cauley-Stein has not played since before the break as he deals with a personal issue. Fans got an update on his status before Wednesday’s game.

Coach Carlisle had this to say pregame courtesy of Brad Townsend.

The Mavericks are kicking off a four-game road trip on Feb. 26. They play three times before Monday’s game in Chicago. The Mavs are also in Miami and Minnesota. Cauley-Stein will miss all three and could be out longer.

Here is to wishing WCS the best. Hopefully, he is back with the team and balling out in no time.

Who steps up?

Coach Rick Carlisle and the Mavericks likely continue playing small. They will primarily use Kristaps Porzingis and Maxi Kleber at the five while Cauley-Stein is away from the team. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will also see spot minutes at the position. He has been used exclusively as a roll man on offense during his three games in Dallas so far.

Cauley-Stein could play an important role down the stretch and in the playoffs. He gives Dallas a different look as true center that can roll to the rim and create havoc on both ends of the floor. Hopefully, he is back with the team and producing soon.
