Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic was upgraded to questionable to the official injury report, but he made it sound like he is ready to play against the Kings.

The Dallas Mavericks and their fans are hoping to have Luka Doncic back on the court. The 20-year-old star has missed seven straight games with an ankle sprain. It is the second such injury he has suffered this season.

The Mavericks have held their own without Luka. The team split four games during his first absence. This time around, they won three of seven. It has been far from the blistering pace the team set with Doncic in the lineup.

The Dallas Mavericks provided positive news on Tuesday.

Upgraded to questionable

On the NBA’s official injury report, Luka Doncic is listed as questionable. That is the first time since sustaining the injury that he has been anything except out. It is certainly a step in the right direction.

Coach Rick Carlisle was diplomatic about Luka playing on Wednesday against the Kings. Brad Townsend shares more in the tweet below.

Luka’s thoughts

Doncic was positive he is ready to return. He took part in a post-practice interview which fans can see below.

Luka being confident about his health is important. The Mavs do not want him to tentative or favoring that ankle in games. It sounds like he is 100 percent and ready to pick up his MVP pace.

It will be interesting to see if Coach Carlisle limits his minutes against the Kings. Doncic has not played in a game since Jan. 28. That is nearly two weeks on the shelf. He played a full workload after returning from his four-game absence in December. Fans should expect something similar on Feb. 12.
