Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is progressing from his sprained ankle. He could be ready to play in the team’s next game against the Sacramento Kings.

The Dallas Mavericks have been without Luka Doncic for the last seven games. He sprained his ankle in practice on Jan. 30. It is the second time this season he suffered an ankle injury.

The Mavs won three games during this absence from Luka. That runs their total to five wins in the 11 games the 20-year-old star has missed this season. The team is staying afloat. Kristaps Porzingis, Seth Curry, and Tim Hardaway Jr. have all stepped up during his time on the sidelines.

The Dallas Mavericks provided an update on the health of Luka Doncic before Monday’s game. Get the latest here.

Tim MacMahon sent out the following tweet on Feb. 10.

It is certainly positive news. The Mavs need him back in the lineup to make up some ground in the Western Conference. They have fallen to seventh during his absence. Wednesday’s game is the final one before the All-Star break.

Coach Rick Carlisle had this to say prior to Monday’s tipoff courtesy of Tim MacMahon.

The news clears the way for Luka Doncic to play in his first All-Star game on Sunday too. That is an important night for the 20-year-old. The Mavericks have only had two All-Star starters in the franchise’s history. Dirk Nowitzki did it twice and Jason Kidd once. Expect it to be the first of many from the young superstar.

Doncic was drafted by LeBron James in the All-Star game. That should be a bit of extra motivation for him. Luka has stated on numerous occasions that he looked up to LeBron as a kid. Now, they will be teammates in Chicago.
