Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis will be held out on Feb. 8 against the Charlotte Hornets. Find out the latest here.

The Dallas Mavericks lost their second straight game on Friday night. They faltered down the stretch and let the Wizards sneak passed them on a Bradley Beal layup in the final seconds.

Kristaps Porzingis was limited to 21 minutes because of foul trouble. He finished with 11 points, nine rebounds, two steals, and one block in Washington. That snapped a streak of three straight games with at least 30 points and 12 rebounds.

The Mavs face the second of a back-to-back on Saturday. They are on the road against the Charlotte Hornets. Fans were wondering if Porzingis would suit up. They got their answer from the first official injury report on Feb. 8.

KP out in Charlotte

Kristaps Porzingis will not play on Saturday. He has now sat two straight seconds of back-to-backs. He played in the first once since missing ten games with a knee injury. Coach Carlisle stated they would make the decision each time. There is no telling if KP will play in both ends of the next one.

The Mavericks are going to need increased production from Willie Cauley-Stein, Seth Curry, and Tim Hardaway Jr. in Charlotte. Cauley-Stein will likely draw the start at the five. THJ needs to step up and be the leading scorer. Curry will also be forced to take additional shots to keep the offense rolling. Saturday could be a massive Jalen Brunson game too. Carlisle will need everyone to step up with Luka Doncic and Porzingis sidelined.

KP should be back for the Mavs next game. The Mavericks have just two left after Saturday before the All-Star break. They host the Jazz and Kings. Doncic is expected to return for at least one of those games. Expect updates as they become available.
