Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic drafted to Team LeBron for All-Star game
By Tyler Watts
Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic will be a member of Team LeBron in his first All-Start game on Feb. 16. See the draft results here.
The Dallas Mavericks are looking to continue their playoff push without Luka Doncic. He sprained his ankle in practice on Jan. 30. Doncic has missed four straight games and is already ruled out for the next two. The Mavs have won two of the four contests without their 20-year-old star.
The Mavericks have a favorable back-to-back set coming up. They travel to Washington on Friday night to face the Wizards before playing the Hornets in Charlotte to close it out. Both teams are well-below .500. Hopefully, the Mavs can take care of business without Luka.
Doncic was voted to start in his first All-Star game on Feb. 16. He needs to be healthy enough to play which still remains a question mark. The All-Star draft took place on Thursday with LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo as team captains. Here is a look at the results.
Luka goes to Team LeBron
James drafted his Lakers teammate Anthony Davis with the first overall pick. Giannis countered with Joel Embiid. Kawhi Leonard was the next player off the board followed by Pascal Siakam. Then, LeBron selected Luka Doncic will his third pick. The Mavericks star likely would have been chosen higher if not for his ankle injury.
Here is a look at Team LeBron’s full roster.
Team Giannis has a strong squad too. Take a look at his players below.
The matchups among the starters will be interesting. Team Giannis has a center, two forwards, and two point guards. They are facing a squad of arguably four forwards and James Harden. I suspect Kemba Walker or Trae Young will draw the assignment of covering Luka during the game.
The Smoking Cuban will be back with plenty more on the All-Star game including all things Luka Doncic, so Dallas Mavericks supporters should keep it locked right here.
