Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis had 32 points, but the team could not keep pace with the Memphis Grizzlies on Feb. 5. Here is a recap of that contest.

The Dallas Mavericks came back home on Wednesday to take on the Memphis Grizzlies. They had won two straight but were facing an uphill battle. The Mavs were without Luka Doncic, Seth Curry, J.J. Barea, and Dwight Powell on Feb. 5.

Grizzlies were one of the hottest teams in the NBA entering the game. They had won five of their last six, and the young group has continued to improve all season.

The teams were neck and neck in the first half, but a monster 41-point third quarter allowed the Grizzlies to pull away and grab a 121-107 victory. Ja Morant led the way for Memphis with 21 points on 12 field goal attempts.

It was a night to forget for the Mavericks. They shot just 36.6 percent from the field as a team. Dallas was short on guards too which did not help matters.

Kristaps Porzingis had another impressive game, though. He had 15 points in the first quarter and did not stop there. The Unicorn finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in 29 minutes of action. He was ten of 20 from the field and made all seven of his free throws. Porzingis also hit five 3-pointers against Memphis.

KP stayed hot on Wednesday. He was a plus-four on the evening.

The game was tied at 71 when Porzingis went to the bench with 6:05 remaining in the third quarter. The Unicorn came back in with 4:44 left and Dallas down by seven. He was elbowed in the face and forced to the bench just seconds later. The Grizzlies opened the flood gates and grabbed an insurmountable lead while Porzingis was out of the game.

He did something unique, though. Here is the Mavs PR with the stat.

The Dallas Mavericks return to action on Friday as they travel to Washington to face the Wizards. It is the first of a back-to-back set. They travel to Charlotte for Saturday’s game. Dallas will be without Luka Doncic for both contests. The Mavs will need Porzingis to stay hot and the supporting cast to shoot better for Dallas to win. Hopefully, they get back on track on Friday night.
