Most likely outcome

The Dallas Mavericks have a lot of options on the table heading into Thursday’s deadline. The front office will be working the phones until the last second trying to improve this team. Ultimately, the Mavs’ most likely outcome is walking away with a small upgrade that will cost them a second round pick or two.

They do not have the assets to pull off another blockbuster like last year’s Kristaps Porzingis trade. Making the deal that ties up money long-term is not on their agenda. That could force the Mavericks to stand pat. Perhaps, they cannot find an upgrade at a reasonable price.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Supporters can be assured that they are searching for ways to improve and plan on building a title contender around Luka Doncic. The Mavericks made a massive leap this season, so waiting a bit for that second jump is reasonable. They will be back at the top in no time.

Be on the lookout for other trades across the NBA that could change the landscape. One of those deals is unlikely, but crazier things have happened before the deadline.

The Smoking Cuban will be here with all the trade deadline rumors and analysis, so Dallas Mavericks fans need to check back often to never miss a moment.
