The Dallas Mavericks were coming off winning a ring in 2011 when they signed Vince Carter. He was 34 years old at the time and past his prime. Vinsanity joined forces with Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, and Shawn Marion to give the Mavs a veteran core capable of contending.
Carter stayed in Dallas for three seasons. The Mavericks made the playoffs twice and lost in the first round both times. It did not stop him from having a massive impact. Carter hit one of the most iconic shots in the franchise’s history.
The legend has decided to retire at the end this season. Carter and the Hawks made their only visit to the American Airlines Center on Feb. 1. Here is a look at how the Dallas Mavericks honored Vince Carter.

The legend was well-deserving of the honor. The 43-year-old is an eight-time All-Star. He was past those days by the time he got to Dallas, but he worked hard and made valuable contributions.
Carter gave Mavericks fans one final moment on Saturday. He threw down a dunk which had Dirk Nowitzki excited courtside.
It is incredible that Carter is still playing at such a high level at age 43. Hopefully, he finishes the season strong and enjoys his retirement. It would not be surprising to see him around basketball. Whether he decides to be a coach or commentator, Carter has the chops for it.
The Dallas Mavericks did well in honoring Vince Carter. It will be interesting to see if the NBA does something for him during All-Star weekend. He is more than deserving of the honor. Stay tuned.
