The Dallas Mavericks are back home to face the Atlanta Hawks on Feb. 1. What can they do to slow down Trae Young on Saturday?

The Dallas Mavericks lost their second straight game on Friday night in Houston. Kristaps Porzingis dropped 35 points, but it was not enough.

The Mavs return home to battle the Atlanta Hawks on the second of a back-to-back. The Hawks are coming off a victory over the Sixers. They are struggling this season, though. Atlanta has just 13 wins tied for the worst record in the Eastern Conference.

Injury update

The Mavericks will be without Luka Doncic (ankle) and Dwight Powell (Achilles). It is the second night of a back-to-back, so fans should check closer to tipoff for any late breaking information. Coach Carlisle may decide to rest players on Saturday evening.

According to the NBA’s official injury report, Jabari Parker (shoulder), Alex Len (hip), DeAndre’ Bembry (hand), and Chandler Parsons (concussion) are all out for Atlanta. De’Andre Hunter (ankle) and Bruno Fernando (calf) remain questionable to play.

Storyline to follow: Who steps up to slow down Young?

Trae Young is heading to his first All-Star game in a couple of weeks. He was named a starter. The 21-year-old has been fantastic all season, but he picked up lately. Young has produced at least 13 assists in four straight games. In January, he averaged 31.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 11.5 assists per game.

The Mavericks are going to need someone to step up and slow him down. They should be able to score enough to remain in the game, so holding the Hawks will be the difference. Expect a few extra minutes from Delon Wright and Seth Curry on Saturday as they take on Young.
