Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis will miss the Feb. 1 game against the Atlanta Hawks. Find out the latest on his absence here.
The Dallas Mavericks have lost two straight games entering Saturday’s showdown with the Atlanta Hawks. The deck is stacked against them a bit as the Mavs are facing the second of a back-to-back too.
Luka Doncic remains out because of a sprained ankle. It will be the second straight game missed for the 20-year-old star. He is out for at least another week.
The news on the injury front got a bit worse on Saturday afternoon. Here is a look at the latest.
KP out vs. Atlanta

Mavericks supporters should not be surprised. Porzingis missed ten games after suffering a knee injury on Dec. 29 against the Lakers. The team wants to be cautious with their star player coming off that injury plus his torn ACL.
KP did play in both ends of the back-to-back earlier this week. His availability in those will continue to be determined each time.
Porzingis is coming off a fantastic game to close out January. He had 35 points and 12 rebounds against the Rockets including plenty of highlights.
The Dallas Mavericks will need others to step up on Saturday. Tim Hardaway Jr. will be relied on as the team’s leading scorer. Maxi Kleber figures to fill in the starting lineup in Porzingis’ place. The Mavs will need scoring from Seth Curry, Jalen Brunson, J.J. Barea, and Delon Wright to secure the victory over the Hawks.
It will be interesting to see how their talent performs without the two stars in the lineup. The Smoking Cuban will be back with plenty more after the game including analysis on the Dallas Mavericks all season, so bring it back to the site regularly.
