The Dallas Mavericks are rumored to be interested in Danilo Gallinari. Here is a look at five reasons why they should trade for the veteran.

The Dallas Mavericks are in the thick of the playoff race. They sit fifth in the West heading into play on Jan. 30. The Mavs want to make a run in the postseason, though. They are not just satisfied with qualifying and being eliminated in the first round.

That has the front office searching for upgrades ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline. The Mavericks already made one deal. They traded a second round pick to acquire Willie Cauley-Stein on Jan. 25. It filled a need after Dwight Powell suffered a season-ending Achilles rupture.

Dallas would love to add a veteran wing that can score. A player that helps solve their late-game shooting woes and could take some pressure off Luka Doncic. The 20-year-old is a legit star, but he cannot do everything. Teams are making it a priority to get the ball out of Luka’s hands late in games, and the supporting cast is struggling to convert their opportunities.

Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer reported the Dallas Mavericks are one of several teams interested in Danilo Gallinari. The 31-year-old is a valuable asset, but Oklahoma City Thunder are currently seventh in the West. It will be interesting to see if they are willing to part with Gallo.

Here is a look at five reasons why the Mavericks should meet their asking price and acquire Danilo Gallinari before the trade deadline passes.
