Couldn’t miss in first
Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks made a statement in the first quarter on Thursday night. Their historically great offense was not going to be stopped. It felt like the Mavs couldn’t miss a shot.
Doncic had his full offensive arsenal on display. He started it off with a driving layup just under two minutes into the game. Next, he hit two step back 3-pointers. Fans can see one below.
Luka continued to get in the paint. He was driving all the way to the rim and showing off his impressive floater. Doncic kept giving the Blazers fits all night.
He was subbed out with five seconds remaining in the first. Luka finished with 16 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one steal in his first shift of the game. He made seven of his ten field goal attempts.
Here is a look at the bucket that gave him 16.
It was an incredible first quarter for the team too. The Mavericks hit ten 3-pointers which tied a franchise record for most in any quarter.
The Blazers were keeping pace, though. The Mavs were up 45-37 after one. It was the story of the game. Dallas continued to put up wild point totals, but Portland hung right in there. It was certainly an entertaining game on Thursday evening.
