The All-Star starters were announced as part of the TNT telecast on Thursday evening. Here is a look at who made the cut.
Luka starting
Luka Doncic was announced as a Western Conference starter in the backcourt. He is joined by James Harden. LeBron James led the West and was named captain for the third consecutive year. James and Giannis Antetokounmpo will be choosing the teams.
It will be Luka’s first All-Star game. Expect it to be the first of many for the 20-year-old star. Dirk Nowitzki was an All-Star for the Mavericks last season.
Only the starters were announced on Thursday. The reserves are let out on Jan. 30. Then, fans can look forward to the draft to split up the teams.
Finished second in fan voting
Luka Doncic finished second overall in the fan voting. He just missed out on being named captain. He led the player and media vote for Western Conference backcourt players. It was good to see Doncic get the respect he deserves. He has played fantastic this season and is only going to improve.
Dallas Mavericks supporters should look forward to the All-Star draft. Will Doncic be selected first overall? Will LeBron or Giannis prefer Anthony Davis or Kawhi Leonard to Luka? It will be an interesting choice for the two captains.
