Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban sat down with Oliver Maroney to discuss the team’s continuity, the Mavs 2011 championship, and more.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban bought the team in 2000. They made the playoffs in his first full season leading the organization which snapped a decade long drought. In his 19 years at the helm, the Mavs have missed the postseason four times.

Cuban has had an incredibly successful run including reaching the peak by winning the championship in 2011. Having an all-time great player in Dirk Nowitzki helped. The Mavs have missed the playoffs three straight years, but Luka Doncic appears to have them back on track in Cuban’s 20th full season as owner.

The boss sat down with Oliver Maroney of the Big3 for a 20-minute interview which published on Jan. 20. Cuban talked about a wide range of topics. Mavericks supporters can watch it here.

Cuban on Mavs continuity

They discussed at length one of the things that separates the Dallas Mavericks from most other sports organizations. They have stuck with Coach Rick Carlisle and GM Donnie Nelson through a few losing seasons. That continuity is unique in professional sports.

Cuban shares his thoughts and makes a plethora of points that more organizations should think about when deciding whether to make a change. The Mavericks have two of the NBA’s best at what they do. Why switch that up? Expect them to stay the course as they ramp back up the standings.

On 2011 championship

Cuban and Maroney also discuss the 2011 championship and how it helped transform the league into the modern NBA. That title team will always be unique. They upset the Miami Heat with LeBron James to win the championship. Nobody gave the Mavs a chance at winning it all, but Dirk Nowitzki helped Dallas triumph.

Cuban shares his thoughts on that and so much more. He talks Shark Tank, the Big3, and former Maverick DeShawn Stevenson to name a few. It is a must-listen interview for all Dallas Mavericks fans.
