Historic night

Luka Doncic was etching his name in the history books all over on Jan. 15. It was the 20th triple-double of his young career. That puts him just one behind Jason Kidd for the lead in Mavericks’ history. Incredibly, Luka secured the triple-double on an assist with 9:16 remaining in the third quarter.

The 20-year-old also broke his personal career-high by dishing out 17 assists in Sacramento. He orchestrated the offensive beautifully. The Mavs could not be stopped on Wednesday. They allowed him to also become the youngest player to have a triple-double with 17 or more dimes.

Luka also became the youngest player in NBA history with at least 20 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a game. He is the second player to do it this season. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the only other. Nine players all-time have dropped a 25-15-15 performance after Doncic did it against the Kings.

Luka was making history all over the court, but more importantly, the Mavs grabbed a win. That marks three straight and pushes them just a half-game behind the Rockets for the fifth spot in the Western Conference.

Wednesday’s game was the midpoint of the regular season for Dallas. They are a virtual lock to make the playoffs, but can they make a deep run? Never doubt Doncic.
