Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic continues to play outstanding basketball. Warriors Coach Steve Kerr compared him to two all-time greats on Jan. 14.

The Dallas Mavericks have taken a giant leap this season. They went from the lottery to the thick of the playoff race. Luka Doncic blossoming into a superstar and MVP candidate is the primary reason. The addition of Kristaps Porzingis helped, but having a 20-year-old playing at that level separates the Mavs.

Doncic continues to do unheard-of things on a nightly basis. He has the most triple-double in NBA history by a player before turning 21. The Mavs star is breaking records for the youngest player to achieve things all the time. He should only improve down the stretch too.

Doncic’s play is getting people’s attention. He is the talk of plenty of national media outlets. Luka also ranked second in the NBA in All-Star votes at the last return. He was only trailing LeBron James. Doncic could move ahead and become captain of the team as a 20-year-old.

Kerr offers massive props

The Dallas Mavericks faced the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday evening. Prior to the game, Coach Steve Kerr was asked about Luka Doncic and his play. He did not pull any punches in his praise. He compared Luka to Larry Bird and James Harden and noted that “he is going to be one of the cornerstones of this league for a long time”. Hear his full comments here.

Kerr praised Doncic a lot last season, but this took it to another level.

It means a lot coming from him. Kerr won five NBA championships as a player and three more coaching the Warriors. He played with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Tim Duncan, and countless other Hall of Famers. Kerr knows greatness, and his comments show that he sees that in Luka Doncic.

Dallas Mavericks fans should be excited about the team. Doncic is going to have them in the thick of the playoff race for the next decade-plus. The Mavs should only improve as they add pieces around Luka and KP. Buckle up for what is going to be an exciting run.
