Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic will be the NBA’s biggest star of the next decade. Here are five reasons why he accomplishes the feat.

The Dallas Mavericks are one of the surprise teams of the 2019-2020 season. Most predicted they would win around half their games and be fighting for the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. That has not been the case. The Mavs are currently in the West’s top-five and pushing for at least one home court series in the postseason.

Key additions have played a part. Kristaps Porzingis has given the Mavericks a rim protector and elite shooting big man. Delon Wright brings stellar perimeter defense. Seth Curry provides Dallas with an elite shooter to spread the floor and create room for others.

Internal growth has been key too. None more important than from Luka Doncic. The 20-year-old jumped from Rookie of the Year to a legitimate MVP candidate this season. He is currently averaging over 28 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists per game. Luka’s ability to carve up any defense has the Mavericks as the top-rated offense in the NBA.

Dwight Powell, Maxi Kleber, and Tim Hardaway Jr. have all taken steps forward too. The team’s depth has been one of its biggest assets so far. Expect it all to continue as the season progresses.

Doncic is Dallas’ star player, but that won’t be all. With 2019 closed, we are embarking on a new decade. Here is a look at five reasons why Luka Doncic will be the NBA’s biggest star over the next ten years.
