Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic made his endorsement deal with Jordan brand official on Dec. 26. See the announcement and more here.

Dallas Mavericks fans knew Luka Doncic was on the verge of signing an endorsement deal with Jordan. The news leaked last week, but nothing was official.

Doncic was recovering from a sprained ankle that he suffered against the Miami Heat on Dec. 14. He finally returned after missing four straight to face the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday evening. It was a TNT national TV game. There was no better time for Luka to unveil his new sneaker deal.

Jordan made the signing official on Dec. 26 by tweeting out this video welcoming Luka Doncic.

Luka decided to wear the Air Jordan XXX4 in his first game under the new deal. It suited him well. Doncic played 33 minutes and narrowly missed a triple-double with 24 points, ten rebounds, and eight assists. More importantly, he led the Mavericks to a 102-98 win over the rival Spurs.

ESPN reported that Luka did not get a signature shoe in the deal, but had the ability to earn one. He will have player-exclusive models coming in February, though.

It will be interesting to monitor if the 20-year-old continues changing shoes. He notoriously would switch them during a break in the action if things were not going his way. Expect that to remain under the new contract with Jordan.

Doncic’s sneaker free agency is now a thing of the past. The focus will shift solely onto his stellar play. The 20-year-old continues to produce lines that no player in NBA history has accomplished. He is in the thick of the MVP race in his second NBA season. Luka is certainly special.
