Dallas Mavericks: Luka Doncic and Dirk Nowitzki make Stein’s all-decade list
By Tyler Watts
Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki and star Luka Doncic were named to Marc Stein’s best and worst of the decade. Find out more here.
The Dallas Mavericks have experienced the highs and lows in the last decade. Since 2010, they have won a championship (2011), finished in the lottery four times, saw Dirk Nowitzki score his 30,000th point, made the transition from one star to another, and so much more. It was a wild time to be a Mavs fan.
With the decade winding down, many pundits are putting together their lists of the top things that happened over the last ten years. It is a nice way of looking back and summing things up.
Marc Stein released his “best and worst” of the decade in his Wednesday newsletter. That featured plenty of Mavs talk. Let us take a closer look.
Dirk named best 40-something
Stein gave Dirk Nowitzki the honor of being the top “40-something of the decade”. The Mavericks GOAT retired at the end of the 2018-2019 season, but that was not before accomplishing a ton during the decade. From leading Dallas to a championship to scoring 30K to finishing his career in style, Nowitzki proved his greatness.
It is yet another deserving tribute to one of the all-time greats.
Luka and Giannis share one
Stein also noted the best “invasion of the decade” in his list. He gave the award to both Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Two of the league’s top players being from Europe have expanded the NBA’s reach and helped get new fans interested. Both are MVP candidates this season.
Stein always does a fantastic job with his newsletter. It is a must-read every week for Mavericks fans. They can subscribe here.
