The Dallas Mavericks take on the Philadelphia 76ers tonight in Philly, where they have lost only one game so far this season. What can the Mavs do with a potentially short-handed squad?

It has been a tough week for the Dallas Mavericks team. After losing superstar, Luka Doncic, to a moderate ankle sprain that would sideline him for a couple weeks, Dallas got some more injury news as Seth Curry and Delon Wright are both considered questionable for tonight’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

This makes for a very interesting meeting between the now depleted Mavs and a Sixers team that has been the most dominant home team in the league up to this point. Can the potentially very short-handed Mavs beat this Philly team, or should fans be happy if we just stay in it from start to finish?

I’m not sure there is a right answer to that question. If Dallas is without Curry, Wright and Luka, the expectations probably shouldn’t be terribly high for a win on the road.

On the other hand, this team has surprised us several times already and there is no telling who may step up when the team needs it the most.

One thing we know for sure is that the Mavs wouldn’t have beat the Milwaukee Bucks and competed with the Boston Celtics if it weren’t for Seth Curry. Curry was the catalyst off the bench and the most reliable player to get an important bucket in each of the past two games. If Dallas is without the younger Curry brother, it could be a very difficult game offensively.

No matter who suits up for the Mavs, they will be going into the game with the mentality that they are the better team. Kristaps Porzingis has been on a roll lately and will look to continue his success against a formidable defense in the 76ers. The entire Sixers team is a threat as a defensive stalwart, something Dallas has really struggled with at times this year.

The game will begin at 7:00pm central time as the Mavs will once again be nationally televised on ESPN. Dallas is for sure without Luka and potentially missing two more guards as well. Philadelphia currently does not have anyone on their injury report.
