Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic suffered a sprained ankle on Dec. 14. Here is the latest on his injury and what fans can expect moving forward.
The Dallas Mavericks played their first game on the 2019-2020 season without Luka Doncic in the lineup on Monday evening. The team traveled to Milwaukee to face the Bucks, but he was back in Dallas receiving treatment on his injured ankle.
The Mavs seemingly didn’t miss a beat. They rode a strong 36-point first quarter into a 120-116 victory which snapped the Bucks 18-game winning streak. Kristaps Porzingis stepped up and showcased his superstar ability. He dropped 26 points and 12 rebounds as he led Dallas to a road win.
It was odd not seeing Doncic on the court, though. The Mavericks relied heavily on Jalen Brunson to fill his role. It was amazing to see them pick up a win without their best player. There was an update on Doncic’s ankle injury too.
Out Wednesday
Here is Chuck Cooperstein breaking the news with what Coach Rick Carlisle had to say before tipoff.
The Mavericks host the Boston Celtics on Wednesday. Luka Doncic being out makes that a difficult game, but the team just proved they can beat anybody. Dallas will need to have Porzingis, Seth Curry, Jalen Brunson, and others step up to secure the victory, though.
Coach Carlisle also said that the team might not provide “much of an update” on Wednesday. That likely means Luka misses Friday’s game in Philadelphia as well.
It was good to hear that he is recovering quickly. The Mavs need him back in the lineup. They played well on Monday, but having an elite talent always makes life easier.
The Smoking Cuban will provide Dallas Mavericks supporters with all the injury updates for Luka Doncic plus opinions on the team that cannot be found anywhere else, so please stay tuned.
