Dallas Mavericks: Tim Hardaway Sr. says Luka Doncic is legit MVP candidate

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic is a legit threat in the MVP race. Tim Hardaway Sr. shared his view during his On the Mark podcast guest spot.

Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic is the talk of the NBA. The 20-year-old has taken a massive leap in his second season. He is averaging 30.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. Doncic is also leading the Mavs into the thick of the Western Conference playoff race.

He stood out during his rookie season. Luka was clearly the Mavs lead ball-handler and future building block. The additions of Kristaps Porzingis, Delon Wright, and Seth Curry have taken it to the next level. The Mavericks are a playoff team, and Doncic has joined the league’s Most Valuable Player conversation.

It should not be surprising. No player can match his stat line. Luka is third in points, second in assists, and 14th in rebounds per game. Nobody else is in the top 20 in each of those three categories.
