Dallas Mavericks stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis face the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 9. Here is how to watch, and what fans need to know.

Dallas Mavericks fans got their first glimpse of the team on Tuesday. They played on ESPN against the Oklahoma City Thunder. There was plenty of disappointment as the team rested Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis. The Mavs went on to lose the game 119-104 to the new-look Thunder.

Beginning the preseason with a back-to-back was the reason for forcing both Doncic and Porzingis to sit out. It is a long season. There is no reason to push your stars in a meaningless game. Both players are expecting to play on Wednesday.

The Dallas Mavericks are facing off against the Detroit Pistons. Here is how fans can watch that contest plus everything they need to know before tipoff.

More. Best and worst case for Kristaps Porzingis

Start Time

Wednesday’s game begins at 6:00 p.m. local time in Dallas or 7:00 p.m. ET.

How to watch

The local broadcasts take over for this one. Dallas viewers can watch the contest on Fox Sports Southwest. It also airs on Fox Sports Detroit for supporters in their local market.

Watch online

Fans can watch online using Fubo.tv. It broadcasts local and out of market games. NBA League Pass will also have people covered living outside either market.

Injury update

The Mavericks only have two reported injuries. Dwight Powell (hamstring) and J.J. Barea (load management) are not on the road trip. Barea is going to play on Friday inside the American Airlines Center. Coach Carlisle said Powell’s status will be updated before the Oct. 11 game.

The team may choose to rest players. Word of Porzingis misses was out well before tipoff. The Doncic rests seems a bit out of the blue. I am scared. Be prepared for anything this preseason. The team is not giving out clues as to their plans for the exhibition slate.

Storyline to follow: Luka and KP

The day has finally arrived. Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis will be sharing the floor wearing Dallas Mavericks uniforms in an NBA game for the first time on Wednesday evening. If that sentence did not get you fired up, it may not happen this season. The Mavs star duo will be leading the charge against Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond, and the rest of the Pistons.

Coach Carlisle confirmed both players will play in Detroit when talking after Tuesday’s game. Expect fireworks anytime Luka and KP share the court. Detroit was 25th in points allowed last season. It should be a tasty matchup for the Mavs duo.
