Dallas Mavericks fans were sad to see Dirk Nowitzki retire. It was the end of an era. Dirk was an icon, entertainer, legend, and so much more. He was the face of the Mavs too.

The team will begin a new season at the start of October, their first without Dirk since 1998. It will be odd not seeing him in uniform leading the Mavericks. Fans should be excited, though. The new young star duo of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis gives the organization an incredibly bright future.

Dirk’s final home was unforgettable. For him to drop 30 points amidst all the fanfare was incredible. The tributes before, during, and after the game were so amazing. Then, Nowitzki announced his retirement on the court. It was a fitting send off for the Mavericks GOAT.

There are a ton of moments from that season that will not be forgotten. The same could be said about Dirk’s entire career. He is a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer. The power forward changed the game. The NBA will never have another Dirk Nowitzki.
