Dallas Mavericks forward Maxi Kleber had a massive game in Germany’s win over Canada on Sept. 9 to wrap up their World Cup.

Dallas Mavericks big man Maxi Kleber and his native Germany got off to a slow start at the 2019 FIBA World Cup. They lost their first two games. Kleber failed to get his shot going with just ten attempts in the two contests.

The Germans made a strong comeback by winning two straight. They had one final game against Canada on Monday. Here is how that contest shook out.

Germany upends Canada

The German National Team got off to a strong start on Sept. 9. They led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter. Canada would not be denied, though. They won the next two quarters to tie the game heading into the fourth. Germany snagged the 82-76 victory on Monday.

Maxi Kleber had a strong all-around game. He produced 20 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal, two blocks, and two turnovers in 29.9 minutes. Kleber was seven of ten from the field and hit two of his four 3-point attempts. He had a must-see monster dunk too.

Dennis Schroder had a near triple-double for Germany. The Thunder point guard finished with 21 points, ten rebounds, nine assists, three steals, and one block.

The victory allowed Germany to top Group P. They finished the tournament with three wins in their five games. Kleber averaged 11.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.8 blocks in 23.2 minutes per game at the World Cup. Germany kept their hopes of qualifying for the 2020 Olympics alive with their final three victories.
